Minister Brennan Launches Returning to Ireland information guide

The Coalition of Irish Immigration Centers welcomed the launch of the new edition of the “Returning to Ireland” guide at the Emerald Isle Immigration Center in New York. Minister for Social Affairs, Seamus Brennan T.D. officially launched the comprehensive new edition of the guide which was published by the Emigrant Advice Center in Dublin. The guide provides a wealth of practical and useful information for anyone who is considering moving back to Ireland. A wide range of topics are covered including social welfare entitlements, health, pensions, taxation, education and accommodation.

The decision to move home after many years living abroad is a major one and it is important to remember that the Ireland of today may be very different from the one you left years ago. The guide is in fact sheet form which allows immigrants to easy access to the information they need to make a well informed decision. It provides comprehensive answers to the many questions that those considering a move to Ireland would have in a format that is easily understood.

Sheila Gleeson, Executive Director of the Coalition of Irish Immigration Centers noted that the Minister also expressed his concern for the welfare of Irish Immigrant living in the US without legal status. The Minister assured those present that the situation of undocumented immigrants is a priority for the Irish Government and the issue is being actively pursued the at the highest diplomatic levels.
